Octet trusses
can not only be flat but formed into all sorts of curved shapes, such as
cigar-shaped hulls
for use in airplanes,
ships, submarines, cars, trains, silos, tanks, or any other volume-enclosing
shapes. |
The tension and compression
elements may be separated out to reduce the weight and cost. |
